Today, the 3rd Sino-japan high-level round-table meeting on science & technology is convened in Suzhou. Nearly 50 experts and scholars from Chinese Academy of Sciences and the related fields in Japan will jointly discuss energy efficiency and pollutant reduction, and how to cope with the change in global climate. Last night, Mr. Wang Rong, member of the Standing Committee of CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and secretary of CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee China, visited Mr. Lu Yongxiang, vice chairman, Standing Committee of National People¡¯s Congress of P.R.C., and president of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and his party who attend the meeting.
At the ensuing welcome reception, on behalf of CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee China and the Suzhou Municipal Government, Mr. Wang Rong expressed warm congratulations on the 3rd china-japan high-level round-table meeting on science & technology convened in Suzhou and his sincere welcome to the arrival of guests and all the participants. After giving a brief introduction to the economic and social development in Suzhou, he said, ¡°For the past few years, Suzhou city was active to promote the sustainable development strategy, boost innovative urban construction, and give prominence to technological innovation in the respect of energy efficiency and pollutant reduction, water environment treatment etc, to improve the city¡¯s technological innovation capabilities in economic and social realm, thus letting all citizens in the city truly feel the welfare brought about by the scientific and technological progress.¡± In the end, he wished the meeting a complete success and wished the Sino-japan high-level persons on science and technology would work together to protect earth environment and promote cooperation in science and technology.
